Emergency, Health and Sanitation

Relief International meets the immediate needs of victims of natural disasters and civil conflicts worldwide with the provision of food rations, clean water, non-food items, transitional shelter and emergency medical services. Beyond emergency situations, Relief International’s field teams provide long term health and nutrition services to communities in need by operating clinics and training health workers. Relief International also provides water and sanitation programming, providing communities with access to clean water, decreasing the incidence of communicable diseases, and improving quality of life.

Providing for Syrian Refugees in Turkey
Since the conflict in Syria began in 2011, more than 2.5 million Syrians, half of whom are children, have fled their homes. The presence of ISIL in the Syrian border town of Kobane has caused a surge of refugee movement into Suruc, Turkey. RI has taken measures to meet the urgent needs of Syrian refugees there, including the distribution of family hygiene and baby kits, essential medicines, and consumables. Learn More...

Parents as Change Agents - Promoting Sanitation in Jordan
In partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), RI is implementing a project to improve the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) practices of Jordanian and Syrian students attending 45 schools (54 shifts) in the Irbid and Mafraq governorates. By improving access to water supplies and sanitation facilities at these schools, as well as their hygiene and water conservation practices, RI is significantly alleviating the infrastructural challenges these public schools are facing with the influx of Syrian refugee students and decreasing susceptibility to communicable diseases.
