Relief International supports 6 health facilities in south-central Somalia providing a variety of life-saving care and services. With funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (USAID-OFDA), RI addresses the immediate, previously unmet humanitarian needs, and offers maternal and child health care services.
RI-supports health facilities conducts regular nutrition screenings to identify and refer malnourished children to feeding centers. Health centers also provide critical pre- and post-natal care to mothers, and work with traditional birth attendants to ensure mothers experienced healthy pregnancy and safe delivery.
Most importantly, RI works in partnership with community leaders and health workers to build local knowledge and skills, and to ensure improvements in maternal and child health are long-term.
