The Economic Growth Project was part of an initiative implemented by various local and international organizations in Senegal, to support economic growth, strengthen agricultural value chains and increase Senegal’s competiveness in trade.
Relief International provided technical expertise in business development services. The program targeted the following value chains until 2011: hibiscus, cashew nuts, mangos, artisanal textiles, fonio, neem, gum arabic, dairy and bananas.
After 2011, to address food insecurity, the project focused on increasing national production and market availability of foodstuffs. Objectives included increasing agricultural productivity, alleviating transportation and distribution constraints, and promoting market-based principles.
