As horrific conditions persist in Gaza and needs remain dire, Relief International has continued to work alongside local health facilities to save lives and help provide safer, more dignified care for patients.
Imagine bringing your newborn into the world and having no option but to shelter in a tent. This is the harsh reality for most mothers Relief International is supporting at Al Khair Hospital in Khan Younis.
Horrific conditions persist for displaced families
Cradling her new baby, mother Alaa* says, “We are living in a tent, and the weather is extremely cold. The baby requires many essential supplies like adequate clothing to keep him warm and protected. We were unable to buy the necessary items due to the difficult conditions and rising prices.”
Against the odds, Relief International is continuing to stand with Palestinian mothers like Alaa whose lives are shaped by ongoing instability, displacement, and a lack of vital resources.

Delivering kits for newborns, against the odds
Working in partnership with the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO), we have overcome massive access challenges to deliver hundreds of life-saving kits during the critical first days after birth. The kits include warm clothing, blankets, hygiene items, diapers, and basic newborn supplies.
Yasmine, Pharmaceutical and Medical Supplies Coordinator at Relief International adds, “99% of people are in tents and tents do not protect against the cold, making it difficult for newborns to endure these conditions. Thankfully, we were able to provide at least these supplies to protect babies from the cold during the first days of life.”
Supporting local health facilities to save lives
We have also delivered hospital beds, baby cots, medical trolleys, and everyday consumables needed for routine clinical care. These items will contribute to safer conditions for newborn deliveries, caesarean sections, and general surgical procedures.
Humanitarian support the only lifeline for the Palestinian people
While these life-saving deliveries are a small victory, hospitals and frontline health workers remain under enormous pressure in Gaza due to ongoing violence and restrictions. Access to safe and timely care remains a daily challenge.
Amid so much suffering, Relief International remains committed to support the people of Palestine at a time when humanitarian support is nothing short of a lifeline for hundreds and thousands of families.
