This is no longer a warning—a famine is unfolding in Gaza in real-time. The entire population—more than 2 million people—is facing starvation as a result of Israel’s blockade.
Deaths from starvation have risen sharply in recent weeks. At least 122 people have already starved to death, including 83 children.
Malnutrition causing permanent harm.
Reduced to skin and bone, thousands of children will suffer from permanent neurological and developmental disorders. The toll of severe malnutrition is not just devastating, but long-term.
Humanitarian organizations unable to save lives.
Relief International’s local partner Al Awda Association, which operates one of Gaza’s last functioning hospitals, has reported that almost half of essential medicines have been depleted—leaving staff unable to provide desperately needed treatment.
Airdrops are not the answer.
Limited airdrops are not the answer. These tiny bundles do not come close to meeting the catastrophic levels of need. They are much more expensive than aid trucks, yet provide far fewer supplies. It doesn’t make sense.
What is required to stop the suffering?
- An immediate and lasting ceasefire
- Israel to allow life-saving aid to enter Gaza at scale, and without delay. Humanitarian organizations—including Relief International—have thousands of truckloads ready and waiting at the border.
This is a man-made catastrophe, and it needs to end now.
Relief International remains committed to the people of Gaza.
Thanks to the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO), Relief International is supporting secondary healthcare and providing life-saving treatment in Gaza when it is possible. Working with local partners, we have assisted more than 19,000 Palestinians.
