Relief International has been actively responding to humanitarian crises and chronic poverty since 2009 in both North and South Yemen.

Yemen’s ongoing humanitarian crisis is characterized by widespread displacement, food insecurity, and health system challenges exacerbated by conflicts and epidemics. With over 23 million people in need of aid due to conflict, COVID-19, and inflation, Yemen face alarming malnutrition rates. Limited health screenings exacerbate the situation, while public facilities cannot respond to the increased needs. Access to water and sanitation facilities remain inadequate, posing additional challenges.

To respond to this situation, RI’s integrated approach targets high malnutrition rates, limited access to health services, and sanitation deficiencies through lifesaving support to vulnerable populations in Dhamar, Shabwah, Al-Mahwit, and Marib governorates. RI plans on supporting 119,000 individuals, including 18,000 displaced households. Leveraging existing programs and partnerships, RI seeks to enhance access to health, nutrition, and WASH services, while mainstreaming protection and building community resilience. Proactive measures are being taken, initiating disaster preparedness activities in the South to address urgent needs and foster resilience in communities.

Relief International’s interventions include strengthening community health services, implementing nutrition support programs, promoting proper hygiene practices, and conducting disaster preparedness activities. By engaging local volunteers, building capacity among healthcare workers, and collaborating with key stakeholders, RI aims to address critical gaps in healthcare delivery, mitigate protection risks, and enhance community resilience to withstand future emergencies.
