The Ebola epidemic of 2014 affected multiple countries in West Africa, killing more than 11,000 people and becoming the largest outbreak in history. Relief International teamed with local communities in Guinea to contain the spread of the disease through prevention education. The program focused on community sensitization, behavior modification and distribution of hygiene kits. Regular assessments allowed RI team members to coordinate with local stakeholders to address gaps. Guinea was declared “Ebola-free” in December 2015.
