Amidst the fast-moving events in Afghanistan, we are able to confirm that all Relief International staff are safe and accounted for.
We have been working in Afghanistan since 2001 and remain committed to the people of Afghanistan as we look towards the future.
We will also continue to support Afghan families who have left their country for neighboring Iran. We are seeing hundreds of Afghan families, particularly women and children, arriving in Iran each day and we are working with Iran’s Bureau for Aliens and Foreign Immigrants’ Affairs (BAFIA), to provide immediate assistance to new arrivals, including food and water – one of the few NGOs working in this area.
Our programs in Iran have been running for over 30 years and focus on providing healthcare, education, and protection support, as well as vocational training and start-up funds to help Afghans gain employment in local markets. We also support pathways to official documentation. We will continue our programs for as long as we are needed.
We are grateful for all the support we are receiving.
