Providing Education in Emergencies

Bader Philanthropies, Inc.

Education is often the first service to disappear in emergencies and the last to be resumed. Traditional aid prioritizes peoples’ most immediate needs – such as food, water, shelter, and protection – with only a fraction of funding put towards education. Yet, education is critical for securing brighter futures for individuals whose lives have been disrupted by conflict or disaster. With support from Bader Philanthropies, Relief International works to reach and teach generations of children in fragile settings who are disproportionately denied access to education. Our educational programs actively target the most marginalized students, particularly girls.

Strengthening the RI Way

Bader Philanthropies, Inc.

With support from Bader Philanthropies, Relief International is investing in its signature methodology to respond to the ever-changing needs of people in fragile settings: the RI Way. The program supports the four elements that we build into every program we design. These elements include participation, integration, civic skills, and partnerships, which work in tandem to increase the long-term resilience of communities in vulnerable situations.

Strenghtening Access to Specialized Health Services for Syrian Refugees

National Syrian Project for Prosthetic Limbs

More than 1.5 million Syrians are currently living with permanent, war-related injuries, including over 80,000 who have lost limbs. With support from the European Commission Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO), Relief International is working alongside our local partner the National Syrian Project for Prosthetic Limbs (NSPPL) to provide specialized health services to Syrian refugees with physical injuries and disabilities – a direct result of the country’s years-long war.

Responding to the Forgotten Anglophone Crisis in Cameroon

Latter-day Saint Charities

The crisis in English-speaking parts of Cameroon, which began with peaceful protests in late 2016, has escalated into a full-blown conflict with an estimated 1.3 million people in need of humanitarian aid. With a lack of funding and media attention, Cameroon tops the list of the world’s most neglected crises.

Delivering Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare in Northern Rakhine State

U.N. Population Fund

Every year, 2,800 women in Myanmar die from pregnancy and childbirth-related complications. These deaths are largely unreported because they take place far from public health facilities, within the walls of families’ homes.
