In an ever-changing world, Relief International’s work as a humanitarian and development organization is more important than ever. The fragile settings where we operate are marked by recurrent man-made or natural crises that impede human development. It’s not our style to parachute in, distribute supplies, and depart for the next crisis. The fragile communities where we work require our long-term commitment.

Relief International has worked continuously for a decade or more in 11 of the 16 fragile settings where we operate. Our long-standing history in these countries is part of why we are well-respected and trusted by members of the local population, peer organizations, and governments. Safeguarding Specialist

SOUTH SUDAN

As a member of the Senior Manager Team and under the supervision of County Director, the Safeguarding Specialist is responsible for leading the integration of Relief International safeguarding strategy into the country program.  The Safeguarding Specialist will have direct liaison and support from the Global Safeguarding Manager based in the GSO team. The Safeguarding Specialist will play a key role in protecting RI staffs, adults in vulnerable situations and children from sexual exploitation, harassment, harm and abuse. They will be instrumental in  embedding an organizational culture that is committed to protecting clients from harm.

The Safeguarding Specialist will also complete an annual risk assessment and safeguarding self-audits which maps the internal and external safeguarding risks present in their country, as well as details on legislation, support services etc.

The Programme Director leads the development of high quality, innovative programmes that deliver immediate and lasting change for Afghan refugees and vulnerable Iranians countrywide. With the support of a technical unit, He/She will ensure that RI programming is of excellent technical quality, attracts significant donor funding and contributes significantly to national/global learning, advocacy and programme development. The Programme Director oversees all technical sectoral advisors (Health, Education, Livelihoods, Protection, Cash and Capacity Building) as well as the Grants and Partnership Manager and the grant specific Programme Managers. The WoS health Technical Advisor will be responsible for overall technical oversight, guidance and advice to RI health teams for quality assurance and for ensuring that project objectives from a technical perspective are on track, which will require him/her to work constructively with health staff in the hubs and technical staff from the global support office/Regional Support Office.
